Here is the beginning of Gadget's electric bike. It is the transmission from a BMW K75 mated to an Advanced DC electric motor. This motor is rated at 5 hp but is capable of putting out 35hp with the right setup.
Here's a close up showing how the bell housing has been cut away, and the adapter Gadget made to fit the electric motor. Extra mounting tabs will have to be fitted to the bell housing to replace the ones that were cut away.
Here's the old power train going out. Gadget will hold on to the transmission for the next bike. He'll also keep the tank so he can hollow it out and use it for a cover for the batteries and controls.
And here's the new setup going into the frame. Gadget will cut and reframe the bike to leave enough space for the batteries. 24 Hawkers will fill the frame. That will give 4 strings of 12 volt batteries at 72 volts.

Here's the new frame setup and the battery boxes.

and the other.

And here's how she looks with a trimmed tank for a test drive. Gadget will be making some smooth cowling with windows in it to cover up the insides.
Another view of the bike. There will be a set of battery regulators (Rudman Regs - see Links) under the tank as well as a battery charger. A new seat cover is also in order as Gadget's shop cat, Mr Dobbs, has had his way with this one.
